The Flare Game| ‘70s Trend With Ease

Skinnies, take a seat.

Love, Flare!

Skinny jeans move back. Please give way to the unsung hero of the denim world. For the last few years denim world has been dominated of skinny silhouettes. Skinny jeans have stayed on top for so long. I never thought I'd see so many stylish women abandoning their skinny jeans to embrace the wide-leg, the bell-bottom, and the kick-flare for the last season. Yes! Yes! Flares are back from the seventies with a vengeance. Flares emerged out of their cave of uncoolness to make a stand once again, trouncing down the runways and on the streets on the legs of editors, bloggers and street style stars.

If you're a skinny-leg loyalist, if you've put Flares in a no-go zone because you think they'll be unflattering or hard to pull of, let me explain: bells help elongate your stems, especially with higher waists and platforms, so you'll look extra lean. The ultimate leg-lengthener. It balance hips and flatters every figure.

But of course some styling tricks are required: You have to be aware of your waist. Don't pair it overly long tops and a heel, a pair of wedges or platform clogs really takes the leg-lengthening aspect to your height. Flared jeans is about dressing like you mean it. It's not about lazy dressing.

I'm skinny and petite (ever since!Boo!) so proportion is everything. I've seen slimming capabilities of flare jeans. It will make me look extra thin (though, I'm super thin already!haa!) and I don't want that. I added a a sleek striped crop top to create an illusion of a wider upper half.

From Victoria Beckham and Nicole Richie to Local celebrities and tons of our favorite style bloggers, we found tons of flare-kick inspiration that will make you  switch things up and  put your skinny jeans to rest.

If your skinnies are made to blend in, flares are made to stand out.

So do yourself a favor and try flared jeans!

Dig Now, Strut Later! | Ukay is OK

I'm a notorious Ukay savvy and I'm proud of it. Ukay is OK! There's nothing wrong with it. When you do Ukay shopping it doesn’t mean you’re poor. I'm about to try and clear that up. Most people think only poor people (I don't mean to hurt anyone.) shop at Thrift Stores. Let me shake off the stigma in thrift shopping. Believe me when I tell you that only people with creative juices and has a true fashionista heart can shop and win at thrifty store. Remember: You can always look great for less if you have the "eye" and you're open minded. Your penny can't define your style.

Thrifting/Ukay-Ukay:

It’s the most cost-effective way to get unique vintage clothing. It's like treasure hunting but with clothes and you have to pay for the treasure you found. You can have a chest full of clothes and good finds in just a small amount of money.

If you're a savvy shopper and a certified Ukayista. Be proud, your struggles and patience in digging unorganized bundles of clothes is  worth it. There's nothing to be ashamed of. Dig now, strut the runway later.  Let your fine fashion set sail.

Here’s proof that the struggle is worth it. I found this awesome shirt dress after digging through dress section for a million years. It looks so cool, modern, wearable, I love it! And it was only P180 (haggled to P100), sweet victory!

A shirt dress is a style of dress that borrows details from a man's shirt. This classic piece is now back to the forefront and my favorite part of it is that, it's a great combination of sexy and tomboy. It has the "I didn't spend 4 hours picking out my outfit "  look (Boyfie will throw a party!haha) and the "Hey, I still look sexy and fab".
The Ultimate trans-seasonal look, I added a flair to the staple low-key linen shirt dress and a pair of heels uniform with a ripped and tattered jeans. This combo reflects my desire to look cool without being over-dressed or exaggerated. A dress will always and forever be the one piece wonder. Never wear your dress the same way again.

I encourage you to give it a first time go or a second. Stretch your peso and try thrifty shopping. It's awesome!

 Go forth and hunt treasures.

Little Shoulders to Bare

How is summer over already? It flew by warp-speed style and I’m sad to put long days by the beach wearing bikinis and endless road trips behind. It pains me to see summer slip away. But it pains me more to think that  rainy season is here already.

Fortune Island: Pocket Size Greece of the South

An extremely stunning island with pristine white sand and an Acropolis with Grecian pillars and statues on the edge of the island overlooking the blue sea.

Can you guess where I am?

Going Barefoot

I had a great escape from the hustle and bustle of city life with a bit of tranquility two a weeks ago when we visited Alibijan (link here). It was a small heaven in itself far away from tech-heavy and work-driven realities. The place was good as a breakaway from my busy life, I had the chance to relieve stress and think of nothing but to relax. We stayed for almost two days and that will never, never be enough. I will never have enough.

Seize the Summer

It's the time of the year again. My heart is jumping. I'm exhilarated and excited, all at the same time.

The blue sky and the sun beating down hard outside is nature's way of reminding me that my favorite season is just around the corner. Two more weeks and I'm done with the finals. Few more days before I break up and bid farewell to school requirements, home works and all! Oh please, fast-forward to Summer! I can't wait to free my wild gypsy soul.

#AIESECGlobalRunway

DYINGGGGGGGGGGG! I'm so incredibly happy  and thrilled to announce that I'm part of AIESEC Global Runway with guest celebrity  stylist Kaye Awatin of thestyleflux.blogspot.com/ and guest celebrity model Katarina Rodriguez, finalist of Asia's Next Top Model.

When I posted this ad on Facebook, a friend of mine asked me if  I'm going to walk the runway. No! No! I'm not a model here. (How I wish, I am!hahaha) I won't walk, but my task is a lot more exciting and fun than gracing the runway. This time I'll be working behind the scene and I know that it will be a load of fun. I'll be one of the wardrobe stylists for the show! Wooohooooooo! It was a dream come true! I'm so thankful and honoured to have this opportunity. Ahhhhh! I' ll also be working with Bryan Sochayseng my co-stylist. We're both excited for the big event! First timer, alert.
